This is the easiest ginger beer recipe I have seen. Don’t know how it would go with carbonation but its so easy it would worth a try to see how it turns out. Another one that uses cream of tartar as well as yeast.
This one I got from a very old newspaper cutting my mum had kept. Bless my mum.
Part 1 Ingredients:
5 cups sugar
3 teaspoons powdered (ground) ginger
1 teaspoon of cream of tartar
Method Part 1:
Put enough hot water in a bucket to blend and dissolve all the ingredients for Part 1.
Part 2 Ingredients:
2 gallons ( 4½ litres) water
½ teaspoon fresh yeast dissolved in warm water
2 lemons sliced
Method Part 2:
Put the water in the bucket with all the dissolved ingredients from Part 1.
Add the dissolved yeast.
Add the lemons slices.
Cover the bucket and leave until the next day.
Using muslin, cheesecloth or a dish towel strain the mixture and bottle.
Let it brew for 3 to 4 days.
Voila …..super easy ginger beer !
