Ginger Beer Plant Without Yeast -Recipe “C”

Ingredients:

8 sultanas

4 teaspoons of sugar

Juice of 2 lemons

1 teaspoon of lemon pulp

2 teaspoons of powdered (ground) dried ginger

2 cups of cold water

Method:

Put all ingredients into a glass jar and put the lid on. Leave it for 2 or 3 days and leave to ferment. If the weather is cold it will take longer.

Each day for one week add 2 teaspoons of powdered (ground or dried) ginger and 4 teaspoons of sugar to the jar. Keep well sealed.

This recipe is over 60 years old. Most of the recipes on this site have been passed down over the years from various members of the family.

Everyone has their little quirk or different way of making ginger beer and swears theirs is the better way. Try a few and see which is the better one for you.
